Do you provide individual tuition?

Following the assessment an individual programme of study is planned for the student, based on the areas they need to focus on. Our tuition is individual with each lesson your child does being individually planned. We continually assess your child's progress and plan the next lesson appropriately. Our teachers usually look after four pupils, this means they are not sitting over your child, which many children find uncomfortable and we give the students an opportunity for independent learning. This will improve their ability to concentrate and complete tasks in the classroom situation.

What subjects do you teach at Step Up Tuition?

We teach Maths and English from ages 6 to 16. We can help with early reading, reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, story writing, grammar vocabulary and English as a second language. Also basic maths, times tables, problem solving, mental maths and number skills. We also teach students NVR, VR, maths and English in preparation for the Trafford entrance exams . Please contact us well before the exams to give your child the best chance of success.

How long will it be before I see signs of improvement?

Every child is different and every problem is different. Your child's progress will be monitored with continuous assessment and we will also provide weekly parental feedback. There is no obligation or contract to attend for any period of time. If, for whatever reason (e.g. change of financial circumstances), you decide you are no longer able to attend,we ask you to give us a minimum of two weeks' notice.

Do you tutor children with dyslexic tendencies or dyscalculia?

Yes. Our main focus is to ensure that your child's difficulties will not interfere with their ability to progress in our learning environment. Please contact us to discuss your child's needs.

Where does the tuition take place?

All tuition takes place within our fully equipped tuition centre in Timperley. This enables us to provide the best facilities and UK curriculum based teaching resources to meet the needs of your child.

How long is each lesson?

Lessons at Step Up Tuition Centre last for 80 minutes and most students attend for one lesson a week. Some children do attend more often, according to their needs. Lessons are broken up into short activities, designed to keep the students keen and motivated.

When are the lessons held?

There are a variety of lesson times available after school from Monday to Thursday and Saturday morning. We teach during term time only and you will not be charged during the school holidays. We do offer optional lessons over the long summer break.

How much homework will my child be given?

Homework is an essential part of the tuition we provide. It should be completed independently and is generally limited to around 20 minutes each week.

How should I help my child while at Step Up Tuition?

Make sure your child attends their weekly class and completes their homework task. Consistency is key to improving your child's results.
